Meaning of the Flevoland flag

Blue above, green below, with a wavy yellow line in between and a white lily in the corner. Blue stands for the water, green for the land reclaimed from it and yellow for rapeseed, one of the first crops to flower in the polder. The lily refers to Cornelis Lely, the man behind the Zuiderzee Works.

The flag has belonged to the province since it was created in 1986.
