Meaning of the Indonesian flag

Red above, white below: the 'Sang Saka Merah-Putih'. Red stands for courage, white for purity. The flag was raised on 17 August 1945, the day Indonesia proclaimed its independence.

It looks like the flag of Monaco, but that one has different proportions.
