Meaning of the Spanish flag

Red, yellow and red, with a yellow stripe twice as wide bearing the Spanish coat of arms. King Charles III chose red and yellow for the navy in 1785 because the colours were easy to see at sea.

The coat of arms in its current form has been in use since 1981.

Can the flag handle wind and weather?

Yes. The fabric is 115 g/m² polyester, UV-resistant and wind-resistant up to about 55 km/h. Do take it in during a storm.
