Choose a kiosk flag if your message must always be readable, even when there is not a breath of wind: the top edge follows the slanted pole, so the fabric hangs open. Choose an ordinary flag if you want it to wave and your design is landscape. Both use the same facade pole and bracket, and with a handystick you bring the flag in without a ladder.
The difference
An ordinary flag hangs from the pole by its short side. In the wind it flies out and you see your whole design; without wind it hangs in folds along the pole. A kiosk flag has its slanted top edge in a sleeve around the pole. That means it always hangs unfolded, like a sign on the facade.
When to choose a kiosk flag
- At a shop, café or office in a street that gets little wind
- If your design is portrait: a logo with a name underneath, or a word like OPEN
- If the flag hangs close to the entrance and people need to read it from nearby
When to choose an ordinary flag
- If your design is landscape, like most logos and national flags
- At an open spot where there is usually wind
- If the flag needs to stand out from a distance: movement draws attention
Single-sided or double-sided?
A single-sided kiosk flag is printed on Flag Longlife polyester. The print shows through, so the back shows your design mirrored. If the flag sticks out at a right angle to the facade, people coming from one direction see the right side and people from the other see the mirror image. If everyone needs to read your text properly, choose the double-sided kiosk flag. It is printed on Banner 610, a fabric with a black core, so one side does not show through the other. It is also flame-retardant, with a B1 certificate.
Left or right?
With the single-sided kiosk flag you choose left or right: the side where the wall is when you stand in front of your design. That way the slanted top edge runs the right way. Check it against your facade before you order.
What you need to hang it
- Facade pole white, 200 cm (€49.95): aluminium, 3 cm thick, 800 grams. Best suited to a kiosk flag or a 150 × 100 cm flag.
- Wall bracket, aluminium (€9.95): 30 mm hole, 8.5 × 8.5 cm back plate with four screw holes.
- Handystick, two-part (€59.95), if you want to bring the flag in outside opening hours. It lets you click the pole into the bracket from the ground, and out again.
The pole and bracket are not included with the flag; you order them separately.
Hanging it in four steps
- Choose a spot above head height where the flag hangs clear of windows, awnings and pipes. If it will hang over the pavement, check whether your local council has rules for that.
- Screw the bracket in place with four screws. Use wall plugs that suit your wall: brick needs different plugs than wood or an insulated facade.
- Slide the flag onto the pole. With a kiosk flag, the pole goes through the sleeve along the slanted top edge.
- Put the pole in the bracket, or click it in with the handystick.
