The design tool offers eight sizes, from 60 × 40 cm to 450 × 300 cm. For a typical building front, 150 × 100 cm is the safe choice: with a large logo, it stays easy to read from about 25 metres away. Viewing distance, the height of the wall-mounted flagpole and the clearance above the pavement decide whether you go a size down or up.
Why the right size matters
A flag that is too small gets lost against the facade. A flag that is too large looks clumsy and puts needless strain on the flagpole and its bracket. That makes choosing the right size one of the most important practical decisions when you design your flag.
The standard size — and the seven other sizes
Our flags come in 150 × 100 cm (width × height) as standard. This size suits almost any building, is easy to read from across the street and stays light enough to move freely in the wind. You are not tied to it, though: in the design tool you choose from eight sizes.
- 60 × 40 cm
- 90 × 60 cm
- 120 × 80 cm
- 150 × 90 cm
- 150 × 100 cm
- 225 × 150 cm
- 300 × 200 cm
- 450 × 300 cm
You will find this size range for both the single-sided flag (from €30.00) and the double-sided flag (from €46.00). There is no minimum order, so you can order just one; from the second or third flag, the volume discount builds up to 25% (single-sided) or 16% (double-sided) at ten flags.
When should you choose a smaller or larger size?
Go smaller than 150 × 100 cm for a narrow facade, a narrow pavement or a flag at eye level: 60 × 40, 90 × 60, 120 × 80 or 150 × 90 cm. Go larger for a tall or wide building and along a main road: 225 × 150, 300 × 200 or 450 × 300 cm.
Smaller than standard
Do you have a narrow facade or a narrow pavement, or does the flag hang at eye level above a door? Then a more compact size looks neater. At 120 × 80 or 90 × 60 cm the flag stays close to the wall and does not stick out too far into the street. 60 × 40 cm is the smallest size in the range.
Larger than standard
On a tall or wide building, for a flag on the first floor or along a main road, you want extra visibility. 225 × 150 cm is then the first step up; at 300 × 200 or 450 × 300 cm your design stays readable even from passing cars.
Choose the size in 3 steps
- 1. Viewing distance. The further away the average passer-by, the larger the flag — and the larger your logo and text need to be. Rule of thumb: from around 25 metres, 150 × 100 cm is perfectly readable for a large logo.
- 2. Height of the flagpole. Is the pole mounted high up? Then lean towards a larger size, so the flag stays in proportion with the building.
- 3. Space above the pavement. Allow enough clearance above the pavement and keep the distance to your neighbours in mind. On a busy, narrow pavement, 90 × 60 or 120 × 80 cm is the safer choice.
Design right up to the edges
Supply your design at the full size of the flag. Keep a margin of at least 5% between important elements — logo and text — and the edges, so nothing gets lost in the finishing (hem and fixings). In the design tool on the product page you upload your file, the tool instantly fits it to the proportions of the size you have chosen, and you can see whether the resolution is good enough for that size: a logo that is sharp at 90 × 60 cm is not automatically sharp at 300 × 200 cm. Going double-sided? Then each side carries its own design, separated by an opaque black-out interlayer, so there is no show-through and no mirror image.
Still unsure? Make a mock-up
Cut a piece of paper or cardboard to the size you have in mind — for example 150 × 100 cm — and hold it against your facade where the flag will go. You will see straight away whether the size suits your building and the street.
Beach flags and banners have their own sizes
If it is not a flag for your facade, different sizes apply. The Straight beach flag (from €85.00) ranges from 40 × 235 cm to 90 × 430 cm. There are also the Square (75 × 200 to 75 × 400 cm, from €89.00), the Drop (70 × 180 and 100 × 260 cm, from €105.00) and the Wave (70 × 210 to 80 × 422 cm, from €120.00). For all four you choose a cross base, ground spike or parasol base; for the Straight, Drop and Wave you also pick a white or black band colour. A banner with your own design comes in six fixed sizes, from €39.95.
